I need to remove the Studies level and Experience option from the frontend application form how can i do this?

I wouldn't do that as you have to change both source and database behavior. Can't you just ad simple choices to them in order to let them fit in your site environment? You do know you can change the content of them do you?

Hello Martin,
There's no way to manage the forms from the backend for the moment. We will develop a "Forms Manager" in the next native Joomla 1.5.X version.
If you really want to hide some fields, you need to comment the lines directly in the code of the component.

OK thanks, I have tried commenting the lines with // but this stops the form from working, can you tell me how to comment these lines to hide the dropdown boxes.

OK. But you have maybe forgot to comment some lines in the javascript, in the first lines of the file?
