Hi,
Yes, you will lose all your data if you uninstall the component. So if you want to keep them, you need to upgrade it.
Here are the instructions:
1. Do a backup of your website.
2. Upgrade the files of the component on your FTP server. You can transfer the files of the patch directly at the root of the website. The files of the component, in the folders /components/com_neorecruit/ and /administrator/components/com_neorecruit/, will be automaticaly replaced. And the CV and cover letters will not be removed.
3. Update the tables of the component in your database with the SQL patch. You just need to execute the script patch.sql in a database client (phpMyAdmin for example).

Hello,
Yes, you need to transfer the files of the patch at the root of your website, and not at the root of the server.
And to upgrade your database, you need to execute the patch in phpMyAdmin : click on the link "Import", and then select the file "patch.sql" into the field "Location of the file to import". Click then on the button "Go" to execute the queries.
