Depuis quelques jours, un outil assez « révolutionnaire » a fait son arrivée dans monde des développeurs. Non, non je ne vous parle pas de la NeoJoomlaBar ;) mais dune extension pour firefox qui est FireBug 1.0 Beta.
Cette extension va rendre de nombreux services à tous les développeurs web, ou tout du moins aux utilisateurs de Firefox.
Firebug vous permet dafficher et de modifier le
code HTML ainsi que les propriétés CSS de la page en cours. Lorsque
vous survolez le code HTML, lobjet dont le code est survolé sera mis
en évidence dans la page elle-même. De plus, les éléments HTML sont
affichez sous forme de nud ce qui facilite vraiment la recherche dans
le code.
Loutil dédition de CSS propose quelques
fonctionnalités assez utiles. Il vous permet dafficher les propriétés
CSS de lélément sélectionné ainsi que les propriétés quil hérite. Les
lignes ayant été « écrasées » par dautres propriétés sont rayées, et
devant chaque ligne du code CSS, une icône permet en un clic de bloquer
lutilisation de la ligne, cest deux fonctionnalités permettent de
trouver plus facilement et rapidement la cause de certains soucis que
vous pouvez avoir avec vos feuilles de styles.
Lorsque vous survolez le code hexadécimal dune
couleur, une petite boîte contenant rectangle de la couleur apparaîtra
à lemplacement de votre curseur.
Longlet « Layout » vous permet dafficher (et bien
sur de pouvoir modifier) les padding, border et margin de lélément
sélectionné via un petit schéma. De plus, deux petites réglettes
graduées feront leur apparition dans la page sur les côtés de lélément
sélectionné.
Firebug vous permet via la fonctionnalité « Net » de
connaître le poids ainsi que le temps de chargement de tous les
éléments de la page directement pendant quelle est chargée.
Dautres fonctionnalités sont disponibles dans
Firebug, notamment un débuggeur Javascript qui permet de faire des
tests à la volée et qui dispose lui aussi dauto-completion et dune
possibilité de copie de la fonction, ou encore un inspecteur DOM ou un
outil permettant de visualiser les requetes XMLHttp qui sera bien utile
pour les développeurs AJAX.
Je pense que lextension Firebug deviendra très
rapidement un outil incontournable du développeur web. Par contre,
contrairement à ce que beaucoup semble penser, je ne suis pas sur
quelle remplacera complètement la Web Developper Toolbar, qui propose
des fonctionnalités que je nai pas trouvées dans FireBug.
